There was a straw poll on the PLT Scheme mailing list before switching
to case sensitivity as the default, and there was a straw poll at the
Scheme workshop in 2004. I'm curious enough to run one more poll.

Vote by sending me an e-mail with one of the following as the SUBJECT
LINE (not the body of the message, which will be ignored):

 (vote <your name> 'ci)
 (vote <your name> 'cs)
 (vote <your name> 'dc)

where <your name> is a draft-R6RS string representing your name and,
optionally, your affiliation. A vote with 'ci is a vote for
standardizing case insensitivity. A vote with 'cs is a vote for
standardizing case sensitivity. A vote with 'dc indicates that you
don't care (have no preference at all), but you want to be counted as a
member of the community.

Please DO NOT attempt to vote by replying to this message. Just send
your vote to <mflatt_at_cs.utah.edu>.

For example, I have sent myself an e-mail message with the subject line

(vote "Matthew Flatt, U. of Utah" 'cs)

This straw poll is not secret. I'll assemble the results on a web page:

 http://www.cs.utah.edu/~mflatt/scheme-case-sensitivity-poll/

The page will show a list of names (including any supplied
affiliation), a vote next to each name, and a tally of the votes. I
expect to update the page daily, or so. You can change your vote at any
time by sending me another message. I'll detect and reject obvious
fraud.

This vote is merely about current opinion, and the result is just a
data point that some might find interesting --- limited in many ways,
including the degree to which they believe that the list of names
represents some relevant group of people who actually voted, the degree
to which they trust me to run the poll, and the degree to which they
trust others to double-check that votes associated with their names on
the web page reflect their opinions.

This poll is not binding for R6RS, and it has nothing to do with the
editors, steering committee, or anyone else acting in any official
capacity for Scheme standardization. You need not be subscribed to
r6rs-discuss to vote. No purchase necessary. Restrictions may apply.
Unspecified value where prohibited.
